ICC Incoterms® rules history

We journey through 80 years of milestones for the commercial trade terms that have transformed the global trade industry.

Incoterms 2020

ICC’s Incoterms® rules are the world’s essential terms of trade for the sale of goods. Whether you are filing a purchase order, packaging and labelling a shipment for freight transport, or preparing a certificate of origin at a port, the Incoterms® rules are there to guide you. The Incoterms® rules provide specific guidance to individuals participating in the import and export of global trade on a daily basis. The International Commercial Terms (Incoterms® rules) are an internationally recognized standard and are used worldwide in international and domestic contracts for the sale of goods and a series of pre-defined commercial terms, widely used in international commercial transactions. In order to remedy these problems, the INCOTERMS first published in 1936 and registered as trademark of the ICC. The Incoterms rules have been periodically updated, with the ninth version. Incoterms® 2020 Dari version will be launched at September 12, 2019 in Kabul, Afghanistan.

Time: 9AM
Date: 12 September 2019
